A tummy tuck is normally an elective procedure, meaning that it generally is considered a cosmetic procedure although there are exceptions to the case when other medical conditions arise. It is important to note however that this procedure is not strictly for weight loss or appearance reasons.
If you are interested in losing weight then this option is probably not your best option. Losing weight consists of good nutrition and proper exercise to help you shed the pounds. A tummy tuck can be used to further emphasize your well toned body. A tummy tuck should be the last resort after you have followed your exercise and diet plan, think of it as just adding a cherry on the top.
The procedure itself is simply removing excess skin around the abdomen. In addition liposuction can also be used to remove excess fat. The simplest way to imagine it is to think of your skin being pulled tight and then any excess skin cut off.
Once the tummy tuck has been completed there will only be a small scar left after the operation. In addition the patient abdominal wall muscles are made tighter which makes your stomach look even more contoured.
It is common to also have other procedures done while you are undergoing a tummy tuck like combining your tummy tuck with some liposuction around your stomach and thighs.
Anesthesia is required but which type is used will depend on what type of tummy tuck you are going under, this of course will be discussed with your anesthesiologist.
If for example you are only having a partial tummy tuck then you are more likely to be put under a local anesthetic meaning you will be awake while the procedure is taking place. If you are having a full abdominoplasy then you will be given a general anesthetic.
Both men and woman can enjoy the benefits of a tummy tuck and it is becoming more and more popular with both sexes. More men in general are undergoing this procedure as they tend to lose weight faster. It is important to be realistic about the end results however, as the chances are that you will not go from someone who is 40 pounds overweight to a Baywatch model overnight.
However, the better shape that you are before the operation the more likely you are to have a better looking stomach post operation.
I constantly get sent emails from people all over the world asking me how much it cost to have a tummy tuck in their particular country. Unfortunately most of the time I have to reply back that I have no idea as I don’t live in their country or had my tummy tuck in their country. Luckily however I stumbled onto a great site which has loads of information on the costs of tummy tuck in not only your country but over 38 other countries. This means that you can find out the cheapest place to have a tummy tuck done and in fact if you live close to one of the cheaper countries it can often turn out cheaper to travel overseas and have the proceedure done.
This is great for a couple of reasons. One, you can actually save thousands (and yes I mean thousands) of dollars by having your proceedure done in another country. Two, you can often use the money that you are saving by having it done in another country and have a holiday while you recover! How great would that be? No trying to hide in your home while you recover from your abdominoplasty.
I really wish I had seen this site before I had my abdominoplasty done as I could have saved a heck of a lot of money. For example, did you know that the average price of a Tummy Tuck in the USA is a staggering $9 750 where as you could head down to Mexico and have the same proceedure done for only $4 000 !!! That’s less than half the cost of the USA one! The funny thing is that there are even cheaper places where you can get it done as cheap as $2300!!
One of the more staggering comparisons is if you were to opt for a Tummy Tuck, Breast Implants and Lift it would cost you an average of $70 000 in the USA compared to a staggering $6 700 in Mexico….that’s a heck of a saving in anyones book. I really wish I had found this site before I had my tummy tuck but at least the readers of this site can make some better informed decisions now and perhaps get themselves a great deal.
If you would like to visit the site with all these fascinating comparisons (yes they can even help you out in real time online with any questions that you may have) simply click on the square above.
